1. Carrying liquids on board
On international flights, the carrying of liquids (including gels and aerosol products) on board is restricted. If you must carry liquids on board, please refer to conditions beforehand from appropriate sources. Check with the officers at the airport before check-in for your flight.
2. Climate and clothes
Check out the weather before travel. Pack your clothes appropriately; always spare a jacket in case weather turns a little colder at night even during summer.
3. Credit cards
Major hotels, restaurants for tourists and duty free shops accept credit cards. But there are cases when a handling charge of a few percent is added.
4. Health management
The amount of ultraviolet rays during the day can be extremely strong. When you go out, take a hat and sunglasses with you. When travelling, you are exhausting yourself without knowing it. In hotel rooms or cars where it can be much cooler than outside, protect yourself from becoming ill by wearing a jacket or adjusting the air conditioner. Also, avoid sunstroke or heatstroke by not sunbathing excessively.
5. Language
Although English is the world’s common language, there are still some regions which their people do not speak English. Thus it is always good to learn some general greetings, such as “Hello.”, “How are you?’, “Please.”, “Excuse me.”, “Can you help me?”, “How much is this?”, etc... If affordable, get a pocket guide of the country you are visiting, so that you can get self-assistance anytime.
6. Passport
You must be responsible for your passport during your trip. In case you lose it, you must have a new travel document issued. It is always recommended that you to carry a copy of your passport with you just in case you lost the original.
Overseas accident insurance
In order to be prepared for unexpected events such as falling sick during a trip due to the difference in climate, or having your belongings stolen, it is always recommended that you purchase overseas accident insurance before departing from your country.
7. Protecting valuables
There are cases of pickpockets, luggage stealing and purse-snatching. When you go out, don't take valuables with you and when you walk on the sidewalks, dont' carry your bag on the road side. Keep valuables, including your passport and cash, in the safe deposit box at your hotel.
8. Religion and culture
If you are travelling to Muslim countries, make sure you avoid wearing revealing clothes. Get to know a bit more about the country that you are visiting so that you will not offend their people’s culture and religion unintentionally.
9. Time difference
You may feel jet lag to some degree if you are crossing time zones. Rest well a few days before your trip, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and caffeine, and you will be able to deal with jet lag. Try to forget about what time it is at home until you go back, so tune your watch to your new time zone as soon as you landed. If you arrive early, plan some outdoor activities to get some fresh air and sunshine to reset your body clock. If you arrive the other side of the world at night, sleep as soon as you get to your hotel.
10. Voltage
The voltage and frequency differs for different countries. When using an electrical appliance from another country, you might need a transformer and plug adapter.
